Course Cost: The Florida Boat Ed Rental Course fee is $9.99.
Who requires the course: This course is for Florida residents and visitors who do not already possess a valid boating education certificate but who wish to rent a boat or PWC to operate on Florida waters. However, you must be 18 years of age or older to rent a boat or PWC.
Residency Requirement: You do not have to be a resident of Florida to take this online course.
Format: Online Only (1-2 hours to complete)
Course Time Limit: 90 days
Chapters: 6 Chapters in total.
Quizzes and/or Exams:
- The Temporary Boating Certification Exam is the exam you take at the end of the online course. You must score at least 76% on the exam to pass. You have unlimited attempts to pass the exam. If you don’t complete the exam in one session, don’t worry. When you log in later, you will be taken to the first unanswered question of the exam.
Post Course:
- Once you pass and pay for the online course, you will receive the Temporary Boating Certificate. This is your proof of online course completion. This certificate expires 90 days after course completion.
Replacement Cards:
No replacement cards, you must re-register for a new account under a new username to receive a brand new certificate valid for 90 days. Alternatively, you can complete the lifetime course at boat-ed.com/Florida.

Do I have to complete the course all at once?
You may complete the course at your own pace. The course can be completed in one sitting or completed a little at a time over several days. All pay-up-front courses are available for 90 days from the time of registration and payment.
Is the Florida Boat Rental Course approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission?
The Florida Boat Rental Course is approved and accepted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Is my Florida Rental Boater Education Certificate accepted elsewhere?
The Florida rental certificate is non-transferable and valid only in the state of Florida.
Will my progress get saved if I log out?
Yes, your progress will be saved, when you log out of your course.
I do not have an FWC PIN Number/it will not accept my PIN Number.
The FWC pin is one that you choose and no two numbers can be used consecutively, meaning 8341 does not work because 3 and 4 are consecutive numbers. Furthermore, you cannot use the same number twice, for example, 1571 cannot be used because 1 is used twice.
