This article will help you get where you need to go to replace your boater education card. It will be split up into two sections. States for which we do issue replacement cards and states in which the relevant state entity replaces the card.
We suggest you do "Ctrl + F" on your computer keyboard and type your state so that you can locate it quicker.
Section 1: States we replace the card for

Section 2: States which we do not replace the card for
Below you will find the list of states we do not replace the card for as well as instructions on where to go to order a card.

Alabama
Send a written request* and your $5 fee (payable by cash, certified check, or money order) to:

California
To replace a lost or damaged Boater Card, please visit the California Boater Card website. The cost of a replacement card will be $5.
The following instructions will be noted on the California boater card website:
How to Order a Replacement California Boater Card
Step 1: Click the “Replace Now” button at the top of the page.
Step 2: Select “REPLACEMENT”. Fill out the application.
Step 3: Pay the $5 boater card fee using one of the following options (no cash allowed):
- Visa, MasterCard, or Discover
- Personal check, cashier’s check or money order to: (Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing)

Step 4: If you are sending a check by mail, you will need to print out the confirmation coversheet and attach it to the check and send to the Division at:

Step 5: Once the Division approves the application and payment, you will receive a temporary replacement card by email within 3-5 days, and your permanent replacement card will arrive by U.S. Mail within 60 days.
Delaware
To replace a lost or destroyed Boating Safety Education Certificate, you can order a duplicate by calling 302-739-9915 or emailing brooke.mitchell@delaware.gov.
Florida
To replace a lost or destroyed Boating Safety Education I.D. Card, you can order a duplicate by calling 850-488-5600 or emailing bobbercard@myfwc.com.
Louisiana
To replace a lost, destroyed, or damaged Boater Education Certificate, go to https://louisianaoutdoors.com/dashboard.
Simply log into your state account (not your boat-ed account), and click on the boating icon on your dashboard to print a new card.
Massachusetts
To replace a lost or destroyed Boater Safety Certificate, you can order a duplicate by emailing boatsafetycourse@mass.gov.
Minnesota
If your Minnesota Watercraft Operator's Permit is lost or damaged, please contact the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources at (651) 259-5400.
Nebraska
We do not offer a course for Nebraska. Contact the state department!
New Jersey
If your Boat Safety Certificate is lost or damaged, the New Jersey State Police can help replace it. Visit the New Jersey State Police website for more information on replacing your certificate.
If you have completed your In-Person Exam and have not received your permanent card, contact the Boat Ed customer care team. Call us at 1-800-830-2268, or email us at support@boat-ed.com.
Ohio
To replace a lost or destroyed Boater Education Certificate, you can order a duplicate by calling 614-265-6485 or emailing watercraft@dnr.state.oh.us.
Oregon
The Oregon State Marine Board has updated its database system to include an online store, capable of accepting requests for replacement Boating Education Cards. You will be able to register, start a Boater Education Card Replacement Application, update your information, and pay the $16 replacement fee for the new card with a VISA, MasterCard, or Discover card.
You will also be able to print a temporary permit, valid for 60 days, so that you may continue to boat while waiting for your new card to arrive. Please visit the Oregon State Marine Board site or download this PDF for more information.
Pennsylvania

Rhode Island

Tennessee
If you have already received the Boater Education Certificate after taking this online course and need a replacement certificate, you can order one at https://ilostmycard.com/.
If you were born after 1/1/1989 and completed the In-Person Exam to receive the TWRA-issued card, please visit http://www.tn.gov/twra/article/boating-safety-education for information about replacing your Boater Education Certificate.
