Missouri Boat Course Information

Who needs to take this course?
You need boater education if you were born after January 1, 1984, and will be operating a vessel on Missouri waters.
All persons must be at least 14 years old to legally operate a motorboat or personal watercraft unless they are under the direct onboard supervision of a parent, guardian, or another person 16 years old or older.

Missouri courses expire after 90 days.

Quizzes and final exam
Exam requirements may vary by course option.
Boat-Ed: Quizzes include 10 questions. Students must score 80% or higher to pass or they must redo the unit. The final exam includes 60 questions, and students must score 80% or higher to pass. Students have 2 attempts or must repeat the course.
Ilearntoboat: The final exam includes 60 questions. Students must score 80% or higher to pass. Students have 2 attempts or must repeat the course.
After completing the course
After completing a Missouri course, students can immediately print their temporary certificate.
The physical card typically arrives in 3-5 weeks.
Age and operator requirements
All persons must be at least 14 years old to legally operate a motorboat or personal watercraft unless they are under the direct onboard supervision of:

- Another person who is 16 years old or older
Replacement cards
Replacement cards are handled through ilostmycard.com for recently completed courses taken with us.
Students who completed an older course or are not found on ilostmycard.com may need to order a replacement through the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Patrol Division.
